There are a number of opinions of what exactly a spell is. One version states that a spell is a formula which is verbalized to basically grant a wish. Those who honestly practice a belief in magic disagree with this description. Those individuals believe that a Spell is the act of focusing energy upon an idea to cause its manifestation. To still others this sounds like the same definition.
Regardless of what the true definition is, it is a subject which draws a great deal of interest and has an incredible amount of history attached to it. This historical significance include several different spiritual belief systems. One of the most popular types of spells sought is the infamous love spell. This subject too causes a great deal of controversy, especially among those who believe these types of spells are real. One school of thought is that a love spell is a form of psychic rape so to speak as it imposes one persons will over another’s free will. For this reason there are many different love spells and approaches to them. One form, as mentioned, resembles an intensely worded wish.
Another approach to love spells which is often accepted as safe is directed at manifestation and based upon the law of attraction. This type of love spell is not directed toward a specific individual and therefore does not impose upon another’s free will. It instead focuses on characteristics which the spell caster seeks in a mate. For example, the practitioner may focus on the fact that he/she wants a mate who is honest, loyal, and creative.
The spell caster should create a list of all of the traits believed to be important and compatible with his/her own. The next steps may involve tasks such as burning incense, lighting candles, and burning the list of characteristics or burying it. To many this sounds somewhat silly; however, there are those individuals who believe very strongly in this sort of practice.
A little research and investigation will reveal that Pagan Spells, for example, are much like meditation and visualization. It will also reveal that these elements are common in other belief systems as well. Catholicism involves burning both incense and candles for divine purposes. Not that long ago certain forms of southern Christianity believed that if an entire congregation prayed over a handkerchief for the recovery of a parishioner who was ill, it would speed recovery. The piece of cloth was then given to the sick individual. This is still practiced by many branches of Christianity today.
